     The Music Department offers a number of programmes to match student needs and interests. In addition to our Instrumental Stream, students may take Vocal Music and Electronic Music (with a focus on recording technology through a 'hands-on' approach). Further, our Music Repertoire Course allows students to participate in an instrumental enrichment environment through participation in the Wind Ensemble. This credit course is de-semestered and occurs outside the regular timetable, thus giving students greater flexibility in scheduling.

     CSS music offers a variety of performance opportunities; including our Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble. We are also pleased to see a significant number of students participating in our Chamber groups. These can include the Sax Quintet, Brass Quintet, and Flute Choir.We have also introduced a Percussion ensemble/Drum Circle. Our ensembles participate in several festivals each year and have worked toward a tradition of success.

     Along with performances at Musicfest each year, our ensembles travel every alternate year to out of town festivals to participate with a greater variety of musicians. These trips provide not only a great musical opportunity, but a cultural one as well. Recent trips have included; Chicago, New Orleans, Halifax, and Cleveland.
